PITTSBURGH (May 12, 2026) — Pittsburgh Riveters SC has locked up another high-quality midfield player with the addition of El Salvador international Makenna Dominguez for the upcoming 2026 USL W League season.
Dominguez, 22, recently completed her college career as a graduate transfer with Louisiana State University, where she helped the Tigers reach the NCAA Tournament Round of 16 for the first time in 2025. Prior to LSU, Dominguez played four years at the University of North Carolina, where she was a senior on the Tar Heels’ 2024 national championship team alongside former Riveters captain Tessa Dellarose.
“Makenna is an extremely talented player and will bring a lot of creativity, energy and skill to our team. She has a great eye for a pass and is very talented in 1v1 situations,” Riveters head coach Scott Gibson said. “She brings a wealth of experience from her time at UNC and LSU, in addition to her international career with El Salvador. We are looking forward to welcoming Makenna to Pittsburgh.”
Originally from Sierra Madre, Calif., Dominguez in 2024 was first called up to represent El Salvador at the Concacaf W Gold Cup, where she appeared in all three of the team’s group stage matches at the tournament. This month, she appeared again for El Salvador in a 2026 W Gold Cup qualifying win against Barbados, and on March 4, she scored in a 4-0 friendly win over Peru.
Dominguez will be joining the Riveters in training after the season opens and is expected to be available through June and the postseason.
The Riveters get things started for their second season this Saturday, May 16, when they host FC Buffalo at 7 p.m. at F.N.B. Stadium. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster or by contacting the F.N.B. Stadium Box Office at 412-865-GOAL.
