With the launch of Pittsburgh Riveters SC in 2024, our organization made a commitment, not only to fielding a team that would contend for championships and provide opportunities for women’s soccer players, but also to increase the profile of women’s sports in Pittsburgh and advocate for women’s inclusion and representation in all areas of the sports industry.
To guide us in that mission, Riveters management and our Women’s Sports Advisory Committee have established a set of Community Impact Pillars to lay out those core principles.
- Youth Development & Participation
- Inspire a love for soccer through accessible opportunities that empower children to learn, grow and play.
- Break down barriers to entry by making soccer programs affordable, inclusive and geographically diverse.
- Cultivate a pipeline of young players, fans and leaders who are deeply connected to the Riveters and their values.
- Parity & Advocacy
- Champion gender parity in sports by providing opportunities, visibility and support for girls and women.
- Partner with organizations advocating for inclusion, diversity and empowerment to amplify impact.
- Use soccer as a platform to elevate marginalized voices and address systemic barriers.
- Leadership & Mentorship
- Empower the next generation of leaders by connecting them with inspiring role models and mentors.
- Equip women and girls with the tools, confidence and networks needed to excel in sports and beyond.
- Celebrate and amplify stories of leadership within the community to inspire collective progress.
With these Community Impact Pillars as a framework, Pittsburgh Riveters SC aims to not only be a leader in women’s soccer and the USL W League, but also to be at the forefront in growing the level of exposure and number of opportunities for women in sports.
