PITTSBURGH (June 10, 2026) — The Riveters could be much closer to a second straight division title by the end of the weekend, but doing so will require successfully navigating an endurance test of two matches against Erie Sports Center in a 48-hour span.
The Riveters are back home at F.N.B. Stadium Friday night after three straight wins on the road, but then it will be quickly up I-79 to face Erie on the lakefront. And home vs. away could mean a lot, especially after last year’s two meetings couldn’t have been more different.
Erie frustrated the Riveters in their first-ever meeting a year ago, and stoppage-time equalizer by Leya Bretz sent the Riveters back to Pittsburgh with a 1-1 draw. The return match was one-way traffic, however, as the Riveters scored six goals in a 29-minute stretch extending to each side of halftime on the way to a 7-0 win.
Erie is in the midst of their own endurance test, however, as the team also plays Wednesday night hosting FC Buffalo to give them three matches in five days. The team is coming off a 2-1 win on the road at Steel City FC where Grace Emanuel netted in the deciding goal early in the second half after Brooklyn Respecki opened the scoring for Erie.
One odd parallel between the two sides is that a defender enters the week holding top goal scorer honors — Taylor Green with three for the Riveters and Hannah Shepard with two for Erie. But the Riveters have been the much more high-scoring side with 17 goals from five matches, compared to just four in three for Erie. The Riveters also have four clean sheets from their five matches, with two each by Bailey Herfurth and Lexi Grundler, while Erie has conceded six goals and has yet to shut out an opponent.
Fans coming out to Friday’s home match are reminded of the early 6 p.m. kickoff, and after the match, gates will re-open for U.S. World Cup Watch Party — presented by ABARTA Coca-Cola and Michelob Ultra — when the U.S. faces Paraguay at 9 p.m. Tickets for the Riveters match are available through Ticketmaster and at the F.N.B. Stadium Box Office, while admission is free for the Watch Party.
Friday’s match will also mark the debut of the Riveters on KDKA+, which will carry the match live along with the stream available on SportsEngine Play. Replays of Friday’s match will air on SportsNet Pittsburgh, and Sunday’s away match will be streaming-only on SportsEngine Play.
