PITTSBURGH (July 4, 2026) — The Riveters are one match away from a spot in the USL W League’s final four, but in their way in the Central Conference Final is the team that ended their debut season in the playoffs a year ago, Minnesota Aurora FC.
Aurora is the top seed, and rightfully so with a perfect record and only one goal conceded on the season, but the Riveters — coming in with their own undefeated record — are hoping a deeper squad, home field once again and the experience of last year’s 2-0 defeat will help turn this year into a different result.
The Riveters were flying high in Friday’s semifinal, a 5-0 win over Racing Louisville, with Anna Korney posting her first senior-level brace at the age of 16 and Lexi Grundler making six saves — one of the highlight variety — to maintain her own perfect mark of six clean sheets in six starts. A goal by left back Brielle LaBerge in the win sent the Riveters’ total to 18 unique goal scorers in 11 matches so far, and the variety of scoring options will be hoping to break down an Aurora defense that has dominated most of their season, with their goalkeepers collectively recording only 14 saves on the year, according to the W League’s statistics page.
Aurora advanced to the conference final with a 2-0 win Friday over a playoff newcomer, Michigan club Union FC Macomb, behind goals by Skye Leach and Jelena Zbiljic. The reigning conference champs were led by Ai Kitagawa with 11 goals on the season, but although they have not missed the playoffs in five seasons, they have yet to claim a league title and reached the final only once, in 2022.
Tickets for Sunday night’s contest are still available through Ticketmaster and at the F.N.B. Stadium Box Office. Fans will be able to watch the match live on SportsNet Pittsburgh and SNP+ with replays throughout the early part of next week. The broadcast stream also will be live on SportsEngine Play.
