PITTSBURGH (June 26, 2026) — The Riveters have a chance to close out an undefeated regular season in their second year, and the last obstacle in their path is a home match against their nearest foe — both geographically and in the standings — Steel City FC.
Nothing is on the line Saturday with the Riveters having already locked up a top-two seed in the Central Conference for the USL W League Playoffs next week, but that doesn’t mean the Riveters won’t want to finish strong against a Steel City team that is on the upswing as winners of four of their past five matches.
That winning run has put Steel City into second place in the division, and they’ve done so with defense, allowing only 10 goals in nine matches to rank second behind only the Riveters. That has allowed them to put together their turnaround, despite having the second-lowest goals scored total in the division with 12.
The Riveters will be looking to keep the clamps on Steel City the same way they did in the teams’ first meeting, a 2-0 Riveters win May 28 at Founders Field. Alexis Tylenda and Anna Korney found the net in that match, and the defense limited Steel City to only three shots on target against goalkeeper Bailey Herfurth.
A win or draw would secure an undefeated regular season, and it would extend the Riveters’ division unbeaten streak to 17 matches, a streak that started after the third match in club history and their their lone in-division loss on May 28, 2025 at Cleveland Force SC.
As the final home contest of the year, it will be Fan Appreciation Night at F.N.B. Stadium with special discounts and giveaways during the night, including a chance to win tickets to the Riveters playoff matches next weekend. The match is also our Soccer is for Everyone night, as we celebrate the world’s game and how it brings people of all backgrounds together during this World Cup summer.
Tickets for Saturday’s match are available through Ticketmaster and at the F.N.B. Stadium Box Office. The match also will air live on SportsNet Pittsburgh‘s stations — live from kickoff on SNP+ and joined in progress on the main SNP station after Pirates baseball coverage — and replays will be show throughout the weekend.
